In business as in life, there is always room for improvement. The work from home landscape is no exception, so we asked our team if they could change one thing about how they work remotely, what would it be. We’ve compiled their responses into a work from home wishlist.
Work from Home Wishlist
If you find a trend on your team that’s similar, it could potentially become an actionable item to improve morale and your company’s remote work culture.
While business demands may require set times, offering team members flexibility in terms of when they’re working from home can increase their satisfaction and help them produce their best work.
- “Instead of working 8 hours 5 days a week, work 10 hours 4 days a week since there’s no commute.”
- “I find I work much better at night, so while not feasible, I’d much rather work at night!”
Better Home Office Setups
A trend amongst our team was a desire for better and more private home work spaces. While you can’t build walls in your team members’ homes, you can consider creating a guide of easy ideas and action items to share with your team on carving out privacy in shared home settings and creating effective home office setups.
- “Two words: Office Shed”
- “If I could change one thing, it would be to have a private dedicated space while I’m home. My only option currently is in a common area which isn’t the best place for it.”
- “I would have liked to have more time to prepare my work place. This change was a sudden change and the difference between a few days here and there working from home and everyday is a larger difference than one would expect.”
A COVID Cosmetologist
Sometimes it’s hard to separate the reason for remote work from the changes we’d make. Another trend our team shared highlights this perfectly. Since the shift to fully remote for our team was brought on by the need for social distancing, the other effects of the pandemic have influenced one of the common changes our team members would make. While this one isn’t an actionable item from a business standpoint, you’d be hard pressed to engage with the team and not hear a cry to change, “My hair…it’s getting long and starting to get into my face!”
With widespread shutdowns, our team is starting to look like the cast for a Broadway Revival of Hair! While we’d like to thank our cosmetologists for closing their salons and joining the ranks of stay home heroes, we’d be lying if we said we didn’t miss them.
What would you change?
Now that our team has shared what the number one change they would make to their work from home routine is, we’d love to hear from you. Let us know what changes you’d make to improve your own remote work lifestyle and if you’re rocking an awesome work from home hairstyle we want to see that too!
